OMP Hobby Super Decathlon 55 Inch Balsa Airplane Receiver Ready

FIVE STARS for Buddy RC as they were just GREAT to deal with! Shipping was FAST and the model arrived with ZERO DAMAGE ... always a plus! The OMP 55" Decathlon is built pretty darn well .. tight covering ..and very easy assembly with no issues. I opted for 4S/3300mah batteries with a VESS 12X6 wood propeller. The airplane is extremely light weight, which generally speaking is what one would want ... but not so much on this one ... which is why I opted for the heavier batteries. In my opinion .. and this is only my opinion of course! .. the heavier 4S/3300's made the plane "feel" more solid in the air. I also balanced right on the spar for CG. That was right on the money for SCALE type flying/aerobatics. Having a pretty short fuselage length .. short coupled .. it will not turn well on ailerons alone. Coordinated turns with aileron/rudder are the order of the day for nice looking turns. Aerobatic ability is as one would expect with a Decathlon! It performs all scale aerobatics with relative ease .. although .. slips and knife edges are tougher to do owing to that short fuselage which offers very little side area to hold a knife edge/slip. But, it can be done! Just takes some work on getting the precise amount of aileron/rudder mix on the sticks. Take off's and landings are very easy and arrow straight. However!, gotta get on that rudder immediately during take off to keep it pointed straight. It'll keep your left thumb honest! I do think the model would benefit by an additional 5" of wing though, which would make it 60". Again, just my opinion! The 4S/3300mah lipo's are delivering darn near 9 minute flights!, which is great. I'm 10 flights in on it and still playing with it's little quirks, none of which are bad by any means .. but .. it's a slightly different beast with that short length fuselage. But, that's the Decathlon! FIVE STARS as it delivers pretty much across the board. A slightly LARGER one would be even better though!

Excellent plane! Flies amazing. My only complaint is that if you manage to scrape the carbon/fiberglass with the back of your hand you are in for an itchy time. Other than that it is an amazing looking and flying plane! I highly recommend looking up the setup done by the Youtuber "Model AV8R"

Very well packed, the plane is put together very well.

The product was delivered in great shape the plane is well constructed and went together easily .The only thing would be to add the CG point and to instruct to open the air vents on the model in the manual.
